Rotherham United are hopeful that international Kari Arnason will sign a new deal with the club.

The Iceland international is one of three out-of-contract players offered new deals and talks have been gone well.

The club are hopeful things will be concluded when he is back from international duty - he was with Iceland for last night’s friendly in Austria.

“Paul Douglas (Chief Operating Officer) has been handling matters and he tells me things have gone really well,” said Millers boss Steve Evans.

“I had a reassuring chat with Kari and I’ll be surprised is he’s not here next season.”

Striker Wes Thomas is also expected to commit himself whilst Mark Bradley - out until October after cruciate knee ligament surgery - has agreed a new deal.

Championship champions Leicester City will conclude Rotherham’s pre-season programme with a visit on Tuesday, August 5, four days before the season starts.

They are at Doncaster on Sat, Aug 2 and home to Forest on Wed, July 23 with Scottish tour dates being finalised.
