ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans insists he is under no pressure to sell his prized assets.

On the eve of the club’s League Two curtain-raiser with Burton Albion, Evans has revealed the club have received interest in midfielder Kari Arnason.

The 29-year-old, who was on international duty with Iceland in midweek, only joined the Millers in the summer from Aberdeen but has caught the eye in pre-season. Arnason demonstrated his versatility at Hull City in the Capital One Cup last weekend by operating in central midfield before filling in at centre-half after Laurence Wilson was forced off with an injury.

Evans says several clubs have called him regarding Arnason’s availability. He claims Arnason turned down two Championship clubs in the summer.

Evans said: “Unless it is right for us then no one will be leaving this football club.”

“I think the interest will grow in Kari. He can certainly play at the top of the Championship.”
