MANAGER Steve Evans has today revealed Rotherham United are set to sign two new players on loan from a Championship club, writes Dom Howson.
The Millers manager, who has also confirmed defender Claude Davis could miss Saturday’s encounter with Dagenham and Redbridge because of a dead leg, says the deals have been agreed “in principle” and should go through on Monday. He said the duo will join the club on loan until the end of the season.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Evans refused to divulge the players names but confirmed one is a striker.
He said: “We have got an agreement in place to sign two players on Monday. Subject to that particular club not having any crazy injury situation over the weekend, then that manager has given me his word so it will happen.
“They are Championship players. They are proper first-team players. The names will speak for themselves.”
Daniel Kearns (hamstring) and Scott Shearer (elbow) are pushing for first-team recalls but Evans has allowed Jordan Slew and Courtney Cameron to return to Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa respectively.
