ROTHERHAM United have signed Preston North End defender Craig Morgan on a short-term contract, writes Dom Howson.
The Welsh international, who can be deployed at left-back or centre-half, has joined the League Two club on a deal until the end of January.
Morgan, who had his contract terminated by Preston last week, could make his debut in tomorrow night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with York City at the New York Stadium.
Millers manager Steve Evans said: “Craig is a player who I have watched often during the last few years and he is a top class performer.
“The lad is comfortable in central defence and at left back, something I have been looking at for several weeks. At Peterborough United he was simply outstanding and a reason why Darren Ferguson got Preston North End to pay £400,000 for.
“He is very comfortable on the ball and is a real competitor. Our squad is taking shape very nicely and competition for a places is getting to a level where we need it to be.”
