STRIKER Daniel Nardiello is the first signing lined up by Rotherham United manager Steve Evans.

The 29-year-old, who scored 11 goals for League One Exeter City this season, has agreed a two-year deal and will officially sign on July 1. Nardiello, who had a three-year spell at Barnsley from 2004, was a previous target for Evans when he was manager at Crawley and was one of his striker targets in January.

“We are really excited because he is a talented boy,” said Evans who has also been in talks with other players who could soon follow.

“Daniel is a gifted young man who I tried to sign for my previous club a couple of times. We tried to sign him last summer, then made another attempt in the January window but it didn’t happen.

“We have tried our level best in the last week; we showed him around the stadium and spoke to the kid again at the weekend. There were several League One clubs interested and a couple of the bigger League Two sides as well.”
