Rotherham United: Millers boss making moves

Winger Nicky Adams, who only arrived in January, has joined Bury for an undisclosed fee with Rotherham saying they have earned a profit on the fee they paid Crawley for him.

The Rotherham United boss has already identified certain targets without knowing which division they will be in next season.

It is understood that yesterday morning, only 12 hours after Thursday’s Play-off semi-final success, Evans was in discussion with at least one potential newcomer.

Adams was brought in to provide the squad with a natural winger, something they didn’t have, and his ability to play either side and have an impact off the bench, were seen as adding something as the Millers pressed for promotion in the second half of the season.

But he made only eight starts with another seven as sub. His last game, in the penultimate league game against MK Dons, saw him sent on in a first half tactical change but then be replaced later in the game after struggling to make an impact.

Adams, who has been out with a calf injury recently and would not have been fit to be in contention for Wembley, began his career at Bury and his family lives in the area.

“The bid from Bury gives us a substantial profit on what we paid Crawley for him,” said Millers Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas.
