PAUL Groves, the Bournemouth manager, has branded Rotherham United boss Steve Evans’ actions “distasteful” after the Millers’ failed bid for striker Matt Tubbs.
Evans revealed publicly on Wednesday the club had an offer turned down for the Cherries’ Tubbs, with whom he worked at Crawley Town.
“You do it [transfer business] in a professional manner and that means not talking about players who are under contract,” said Groves. “It is distasteful, a manager is making comments about someone under contract.”
But Evans insisted: “I spoke to Tom Mitchell, the son of the owner at AFC Bournemouth who indicated that Tubbsy was a part of the plans there.”
Evans is contemplating whether to table another bid for Tubbs.
