MIDFIELDER David Noble looks poised for a return to action for Rotherham United against Northampton Town at the New York Stadium.

It is five months since his last start - the 6-2 debacle at Port Vale in September. Since then he has made two brief substitute appearances, the second of them last Saturday when he scored a cracking consolation goal in the defeat by Bristol Rovers.

After the Vale game, he had a break over some personal issues and then suffered ankle trouble and has only just pushed back into the first team picture.

There were rumours after the Vale game that he and boss Steve Evans had had a fall-out but the manager denied it and has also denied a rumoured fall-out this week with Daniel Nardiello who was replaced at half-time last Saturday.

With Kari Arnason set to move into centre defence due to the one-match ban for Claude Davis, Noble looks set to claim the midfield vacancy.

Rotherham are two points behind Northampton.
