ROTHERHAM UNITED: Michael O’Connor on the way back

DANIEL Nardiello and Alex Revell were among the goals for Rotherham United’s second string yesterday, with midfielder Michael O’Connor getting in a full 90 minutes of action.

Nardiello scored four times and Revell completed his hat-trick with the final kick of a 7-0 win over a youthful Bury side in their opening Central League game at Parkgate yesterday.

After starting in Rotherham’s first three games, Nardiello was on the bench at Chesterfield on Saturday. Revell has been a sub so far with Kayode Odejayi getting the starting berth up front.

Manager Steve Evans looked on as O’Connor continued his bid for full match fitness having had his early-season build-up hit by a groin injury.

Johnny Mullins also returned after his injury against Burton and Rotherham also included Gareth Evans and Lionel Ainsworth who both started at Chesterfield. Also playing were Andy Warrington and Kieran Agard who played in midfield.

The two French trialists expected to figure did not appear as clearance was still awaited.

The Millers are at home to Bradford City on Saturday with demand for tickets high.
