TWO young players who have just signed professional contracts, Alec Denton and Mitchell Rose, will be on the subs’ bench for Rotherham United’s final game at Don Valley Stadium this afternoon.
Manager Steve Evans has confirmed that striker Denton and midfielder Rose, both 18, will be involved against Northampton Town.
In a recent friendly against Notts County, Denton scored both goals in a 2-0 win.
Evans will have a stand-in left-back as Tom Newey is suspended and other candidates Sam Wood and Scott Griffiths have gone back to their respective clubs along with Kieron Cadogan.
It could mean that Dale Tonge will switch across and Mark Bradley move to right-back after he played last week in centre defence. Ryan Cresswell returns to partner Johnny Mullins after a one-match ban.
Lewis Grabban is available again and would have to oust Sam Hoskins who made his first start last week, celebrating with a goal.
With the club’s retained list due to be announced on Monday, Evans has revealed that winger Marcus Marshall and midfielder Ollie Banks have been released. Richard Naylor was let go earlier this week.
