ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans is hoping to finalise the signing of a winger, thought to be Jon-Paul McGovern, after meeting him yesterday.

Speaking on the Millers’ website Evans said: “He has been taken around the stadium and the training ground and he is really excited by it all but he is sought after by a few clubs.

“We know the kid is in the final hours before he makes his decision.

“I have asked him to meet me again so I can remind him of what we are trying to achieve at Rotherham United and how he would play a part.”

Evans also said he’s in discussions with two other players: “Talks are also continuing with a left back and a striker despite both lads being away on holiday.

“I would expect some developments later in the week when they return back to England.

“Both, like the winger, are lads I wanted to sign at the start of my summer recruitment and they are still very much on my radar.”

A fixture against a Premier League club is also still on the cards for a pre-season friendly at the New York Stadium, revealed Evans.
