PERSISTENCE has paid off for Rotherham United manager Steve Evans after he brought in talented young striker Adam Morgan from Liverpool yesterday.

The 18-year-old, with a prolific scoring record, joins on loan until February 9 and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s FA Cup third-round trip to Aldershot.

“I first inquired about the lad in August, have watched him many times and I’ve been badgering the manager for a couple of months,” said Evans. “They are happy for him to go and get some first-team experience and I know there was at least one League One club in for him. I’m excited that he is joining.”

Morgan, an England Under-17 and U-19 cap, has played three times in Liverpool’s first team this season, all in the Europa League, starting twice. He was top scorer with 21 goals for the Academy last season.
