Rotherham United: Evans dismisses Pitman talks

Have your say

Boss Steve Evans has played down reports Rotherham United are keen on Bournemouth striker Brett Pitman.

Pitman is thought to be interesting several Championship clubs after failing to command a regular starting berth at Dean Court.

Evans said: “He is a player I recall from his days at Bristol City and have admired since, but we have had no negotiations with him or his representatives. We get linked with a lot of players we don’t sign.”

Pitman began his career with Bournemouth before a move to Bristol City.

The Jersey-born 26-year-old returned to Bournemouth in January 2013, scoring 21 goals in 30 starts and 24 substitute appearances.

Meanwhile, former Millers loan striker Tom Hitchcock has completed his switch to MK Dons.

The 21-year-old scored five goals for the Millers last season in four starts and seven games as a sub, including a quickfire hat-trick to inspire a 4-3 win at Gillingham after coming off the bench in the second half. His last Rotherham appearance came in the 2-1 win at Swindon onMay 3.

He was released by parent club QPR after they were promoted to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs last season.
