He may be the player who scored a hat-trick against Rotherham United last season, but Nouha Dicko will be welcomed back to New York Stadium this afternoon by Millers manager Steve Evans.

Dicko starred for Rotherham during a loan spell, scoring six goals in six appearances, before sealing a permanent move to Wolves.

The pacy striker proceeded to score three times duing a 6-4 thriller at Molineux which dended in favour of the home side, but retained a soft spot for the team which helped launch his career.

Evans said: “Nouha Dicko sent me a text message just after Wolves had won promotion and we played them at Molineux saying ‘Sorry to score against my team’.”

“He was also one of the first on the phone to me after we won promotion of our own at Wembley.”

Before his goal spree for Rotherham United, Dicko had been a relative unknown at Wigan Athletic, unable to force his way into their first-team reckoning.

Evans added: “I rate him very highly, not only as a player but as a person.

“We would have loved to have kept him at our club for longer, but we have a wage structure that we adhere to here and don’t break for anybody.”

New York is set to be a full house this afternoon if Wolves have managed to sell all of their 2,000-plus away allocation

Meanwhile, forward Kieran Agard is available for selection after his proposed move to Leeds United broke down yesterday.

The Millers agreed to sell Agard when the Elland Road outfit met their vaulation of the player and he travelled for talks yesterday.

But he headed back to Rotherham when he was unable to agree personal terms with the West Yorkshire club.

Today could see a first outing for attacker Paul Taylor who yesterday joined the Millers on loan from Ipswich Town.

Rotherham’s match at Millwall on August 23 has been made all-ticket.
