Boss Steve Evans says Rotherham United can use today’s derby showdown with Sheffield Wednesday to put the pride back into the town.

The Millers travel to Hillsborough in search of a fifth straight win there, and Evans said: “As a town, we have been on the real bad end of some bad headlines, written, spoken and on television, the whole lot, over the last number of months because of certain things that have happened in the town.

“The one thing that has commonly been said is that Rotherham United have been a beacon of light for the past two and half years”

A crowd of around 27,000 is expected in S6, with Rotherham having sold out their entire allocation nearly a fortnight ago. Evans is predicting a hot-house atmosphere for the Championship clash where a win for the Millers would see them draw level on points with their South Yorkshire rivals.

“The supporters will sing their hearts out and deliver the type of passion and energy that can get through to my players,” he said.

“Let’s use this to get a good victory and show the town of Rotherham is bouncing back - in sport - for the right reasons.”
