ROTHERHAM United’s finances have received a huge boost thanks to Adam Le Fondre helping Reading to promotion to the Premier League.
As part of the transfer deal when Le Fondre was sold to the Royals at the end of August was a clause in which the fee would roughly double if Reading gained promotion.
At the time the whole fee was undisclosed but it is understood the initial transfer fee was £350,000 with a similar sum on top of that if Reading went up.
In addition, there are further increments dependent on Le Fondre’s appearances and goals and although there is no official figure released it is likely that the overall value to the Millers could well top £750,000 eventually.
Le Fondre - who scored four goals in his five appearance for Rotherham at the start of the season - has scored some vital goals for Reading, not least when going on as a substitute, and he netted twice as a sub in the crucial 3-1 win at Southampton last Friday. Reading sealed promotion with a 1-0 win over Forest on Tuesday.
