ROTHERHAM United manager Ronnie Moore says it will be "a massive boost" when Ryan Taylor pens a new contract.

The 22-year-old striker is close to sorting out a new deal after talks over the past couple of months.

"We're looking at a two-and- a-half-year contract and want to get it sorted this week. That would be a massive boost for everyone," said Moore.

"He returned here towards the end of last season looking a different player, even a different person, and he has pushed on."

Meanwhile, promising young midfielder Grant Darley has signed a six-month contract to the end of the season.

The Barnsley-born youngster, recently kept out for some time by a shoulder injury, signed a six-month deal last summer but has impressed sufficiently to be given an extended opportunity to force his way into Moore's plans.

He has been an unused substitute three times for the Millers.
