NEW arrival Danny Schofield is challenging Rotherham United to mount a serious promotion tilt next season.
The midfield playmaker, who joined the Millers on a free transfer from Millwall yesterday, said: “Promotion is the goal. We want to go up automatically and I’m sure with the players we’ve got we can achieve that.”
Doncaster-born Schofield, who arrives at Rotherham after two years with the Lions, said he was “over the moon” to join the club and return to his Yorkshire roots following a lengthy spell at Huddersfield earlier in his career.
“I can’t wait to get started,” the 31-year-old admitted. “I spoke to the gaffer six days ago and I made the decision there and then. I saw a lot of potential here. It is a big club for League Two and going in the right direction.”
Schofield replaces Nicky Law, who officially joins Motherwell today after the expiration of his Millers deal. He was linked with Scunthorpe and Crawley.
