ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans is demanding his team smarten up their act...literally!
Having joined forces with clothes store T.M. Lewin, based at Meadowhall, the Millers squad will now wear suave, sophisticated suits on match-days as Evans continues to try to raise standards at the New York Stadium.
Several first-team regulars, including Scott Shearer and Ian Sharps, had their navy blue blazers bearing the club crest and grey trousers fitted yesterday. The players are expected to wear their new attire for the first time at Aldershot a week on Saturday.
Coach Paul Warne told The Star: “For the last couple of seasons, the squad has worn track-suits on match-days but Steve [Evans] wanted to change that.
“He wants us to look a professional outfit home and away. Steve wants the players, from the moment they leave their houses, to take pride in representing the club.”
Andy Makin, the store manager of T.M Lewin, added: “Rotherham are a local team and we are pleased to have this association with them. We hope this will be the start of a long-term partnership.”
n The Millers reserve match at home to Tranmere Rovers in the Central League, scheduled for today, has now been moved to Wednesday November 21, kick-of 2pm. Two other dates have changed; they will now travel to Walsall and Hartlepool on October 24 and November 28 respectively.
