ROTHERHAM United have turned down a bid for Adam Le Fondre.

Millers manager Andy Scott admitted there had been ‘some interest’ in the little striker who has netted over 50 goals in the last two seasons and was on the mark in Tuesday’s friendly against Sheffield Wednesday.

“But what was suggested was nowhere near our valuation; it will take a hell of an offer to let him go,” he said.

“Alf is aware of all that’s going on, but I expect him to be here at the start of the season.”

After the opening friendly, Scott praised Le Fondre’s attitude during pre-season and the fact he had returned slimmer. The striker has been linked with interest from several clubs, particularly Scunthorpe and also Barnsley, Sheffield United and now Coventry the latest.

One striker being linked to the Millers is former Barnsley target man Liam Dickinson.
