ROTHERHAM United players dominate the Team of the Week following their much-needed victory over Aldershot.
Dale Tonge and Guy Branston make it into the back four. Tonge starred at right-back in the 2-0 triumph which saw Andy Scott’s men climb up to 14th in the League Two table while Branston was outstanding at the heart of the defence.
On-loan Notts County player Jon Harley also shone and he gets the nod in the left-back position while Blade Neil Collins partners Branston in the centre.
Much criticised shot-stopper Steve Simonsen deserves special praise. Recalled in between the sticks for Sheffield United’s encounter at Stevenage, he went a long way to silencing his detractors by producing a near-fautless performance. He had no chance with either goal and pulled off a series of superb saves.
I’ve chosen Danny Drinkwater in a three-man midfield despite his yellow card at Brighton which means he is banned for the local derby with Doncaster Rovers after the international break. The Manchester United starlet worked hard throughout as the Reds succumbed to a 2-0 loss at Brighton.
Jason Taylor gets in too while Ben Marshall yet again proved what an excellent addition he has been for Sheffield Wednesday. His dribbling and crossing ability repeatedly put Brentford on the back foot at Hillsborough.
Jordan Bowery bagged a double as struggling Chesterfield drew with Yeovil and is selected up front alongside Doncaster Rovers duo El-Hadji Diouf and Billy Sharp.
Senegalese international Diouf capped a fine individual display by claiming two goals in their shock win at Ipswich while Sharp made it two goals in as many starts.
