Millers make renewed bid to keep Ryan

SOME Rotherham United players were learning their fate yesterday while further talks, almost certainly with an improved offer, were going on with striker Ryan Taylor.

He put contract talks on hold back in January and is rumoured to have offers from elsewhere, with Barnsley boss Mark Robins known to be an admirer of a player who initially developed under him in the days at Millmoor.

In addition, Nicky Law is also out of contract and he could be set to go.

There is speculation that newly-promoted Chesterfield may be in for him, and the prospect of League One football in a new stadium would be a tempting lure.

Millers boss Andy Scott gave nothing away other than saying he’d been given “a lot of food for thought”.

“I didn’t have pre-conceived ideas about players when I got here; it has been up to them to convince me,” said Scott.

“But there will be changes.”
