AFTER Adam Le Fondre’s £500,000-plus departure to Reading at the weekend, Rotherham United boss Andy Scott began to back up a recruitment drive he’d already started by making a new signing with more likely to follow.
He has brought in big striker Brett Williams, 23, from Reading on loan until the end of January. Signed by The Championship club 18 months ago from Conference South club Eastleigh for £50,000, he has not played a first team game for them but has done well in the reserves and had been attracting interest.
Millers boss Andy Scott said he had also agreed a deal to bring someone else in and this player would cost a fee.
It is believed the various add-ons could eventually make the Le Fondre deal worth well over the half-a-million mark although his previous club Rochdale are due a ‘sell-on’ percentage of the fee.
Rotherham went back to the top with League Two’s only unbeaten record after the 3-0 win over Gillingham.
