ROTHERHAM United have completed their list of pre-season friendlies after agreeing to face League One promotion near-miss side Huddersfield Town.

They will play Lee Clark’s team - who lost out in the Play-off Final to Peterborough - on Saturday, July 30 at Don Valley Stadium, Kick off 3pm.

This will be the last of the first team friendlies before the season opens on August 6 although manager Andy Scott takes a side to Parkgate on Monday, August 1.

Added intrigue for the Terriers friendly is that they were the club which made the firmest inquiry about top scorer Adam Le Fondre last season.

The clubs met in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last season when Huddersfield won 5-2. Le Fondre did not play in that game.

The Millers open at Grimsby on July 16 and have home games against Sheffield Wednesday (Tuesday, July 19) and Scunthorpe (Wednesday, July 27). They also play at Stocksbridge Park Steels on Tuesday, July 26.

Former Millers favourite Guy Branston has joined fellow League Two club Bradford City. The 32-year-old defender, out of contract, was Torquay’s Player of the Year and played a major part in them reaching the League Two Play-off Final where they lost to Stevenage.

The draw for the first round of the Carling Cup is made tomorrow but with holders Birmingham City exempt until the third round, it means the two clubs who came up from the Blue Square Premier, Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon, will play each other in a preliminary round game on July 29 so that round one numbers will be even.
