Millers can dig in

It was somewhat less entertaining at Walsall last week than most of Rotherham United’s other league games but that should in no way detract from the merits of the draw.

The manner of it should certainly serve as a reminder that not every favourable result will be secured by rolling over the opposition with verve and power as they did, for example, against Notts County, the Blades and Oldham.

There are bound to be days - particularly for newly-promoted sides - when they can’t have things their own way. That’s when it is imperative to dig in and, if you like, dig out a result.

Yes, they are a group encouraged to attack but they can’t have things always on their own terms and there will be days when other qualities will determine whether or not they can get something.
