ROTHERHAM United manager Andy Scott has put bringing in a central defender high among his priority signings as he sets about the task of rebuilding the squad.
The decision to release experienced Nick Fenton as well as understudy Luke Ashworth means the Millers boss has a void to fill alongside Ryan Cresswell.
It could be he already has somebody earmarked as a replacement for Fenton who was one of six players released this week with Mark Bradley and Tom Pope, both under contract, put on the transfer list.
The Millers boss admitted that he already has ideas on a couple of signings, adding: “I’d like to think that I’m a bit down the line with a couple that I want to bring in.
“Sometimes things move quickly because players want to get sorted before they go off on their holidays. Sometimes finalising contracts, bits and pieces, takes a bit longer.”
He said he would like early decisions from the six players offered new contracts, Jamie Annerson, Dale Tonge, Jason Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Nicky Law and youngster Ollie Banks.
