Rotherham United have signed former Premier League centre-half Danny Collins.

The 34-year-old joins the Millers just a day after right winger Emmanuel Ledesma committed himself to the club, and becomes their fifth summer signing.

The Star understands the Welsh international has signed a one-year contract at AESSEAL New York Stadium

He made 149 league appearances, the majority of which were in the Premier League, for Sunderland between 2004 and 2009 before a £2,750,000 switch to Stoke where he made 45 league starts, all of which were in the top flight.

Other players to joined the Millers are Lewis Buxton, Joe Mattock and Aidy White, with manager Steve Evans planning more new arrivals as the club gear up for Championship opening day on August 8.
