Rotherham United: Sky is the limit for next season says new boy Carlton Morris

The Millers are back in the third tier after a valiant effort in the Championship saw them relegated in the penultimate game.

Paul Warne has moved quickly to start planning for life back in League One, tying up the deal of Morris on a season-long loan from Norwich.

It is the second spell at the AESSEAL New York Stadium for the striker, after an initial stint in 2017.

Morris was part of a successful Shrewsbury side in this division two years ago, one which battled hard for automatic promotion, before eventually losing to Rotherham in the play-off final at Wembley.

He believes the Millers have plenty of quality and is looking forward to a successful campaign.

“They are such a talented group so I’m craving to get minutes on the pitch to help them as much as I can,” he said. “I’m quite versatile and hope to create a positive impact all-round, especially on the offensive side of things and to show my work rate.

“League One is very competitive and the sky will be the limit for us so I just can’t wait to get started.”

Meanwhile, defender Clark Robertson says there was nothing disgraceful about the way his side went down.

The Millers gave their all in a division where they cannot compete financially, but could not translate performances into points.

“I think at the start of the season everyone in the league was expecting us to be long gone,” the Scot said.

“That wasn't the case and we managed to take it to the second to last game of the season.

“I think everyone can be proud of their efforts this season and we're just gutted we haven't managed to stay up. That said, we've all fought well and our team spirit almost got us over the line in the end.

“We've gave it a right go in every match and we're just all gutted that we didn't manage to stay in this division for the fans, ourselves and the staff.

“I think we were unlucky not to pick up more points than we did and our performances meant we probably should have picked up more.

“Everyone has fought right until the end and there's no disgrace in going down in the second to last game of the season.”
