Rotherham United winger Ryan Williams has had his summer holidays cut short, but he probably will not mind too much.

The Millers winger, who is currently mulling over a new contract offer at the club, has been called up to Australia's squad ahead of their game with South Korea next month.

The 25-year-old has been on Socceroos boss Graham Arnold's radar for most of the season but continued to just miss out on a call-up.

However, his time has come and he will now travel to Busan on Tuesday to join up with the squad.

Whether Williams' call-up helps the Millers' chances of keeping him remains to be seen but it was richly deserved for the form he showed in the Championship last season.

It is another feather in the cap for boss Paul Warne, who has also turned Will Vaulks, Semi Ajayi and Kyle Vassell into first-time internationals under his tenure.

“It's great at the club at the moment and I have been incredibly proud to see lads receiving the news of their first call-ups whilst with us,” the boss said.

“There have been four international debutants this year and others that have managed to get into the reckoning whilst with us.

“We've seen Will at Wales, Semi with Nigeria, Vass at Northern Ireland and now Willo getting involved at Australia.

“I think players come here knowing that if they can be a success for this great club, we won’t stand in their way of progressing their careers and that benefits all parties really.

“If we can take a player and improve him, that is only going to benefit the team and hopefully there are lads out there that might be on our radar who will see that as a big reason to come and join us.”

The Millers' pre-season plans on English soil have been confirmed, with the announcement of a friendly against West Brom.

The Championship Baggies, who sent the Millers down, will visit South Yorkshire on Tuesday, 23 July.

Meanwhile, investment and pension firm Embark have been announced as the club's new home shirt sponsor.

The company replace Parkgate Retail World, whose long-term deal with the club has ended.
