Rotherham United: Latest on Jamie LIndsay and team news ahead of Fleetwood clash

Lindsay is back north of the border with his six-week-old who is in hospital in Glasgow.

The midfielder missed last week’s draw at Southend and the Millers were hopeful he would be back training this week as his son's health appeared to be improving.

However, he is still in hospital, meaning Lindsay will play no part in this weekend's game against Fleetwood.

Warne said: “Unfortunately his son hasn’t recovered as quickly as it was thought he might. He is still in hospital in Glasgow and Jamie is obviously there with his family as I would expect.

“He has our thoughts with him all the time and we’ll see him when we see him.

“There is no rush for him to come back from a personal point of view, that is for sure.”

Lindsay is not the only player set to be missing for the game against ninth-placed Fleetwood as illness has swept the Millers camp.

Warne says he has a “couple” of players who are suffering, but chose not to name them, while Richard Wood is still missing with a hamstring injury.

“It's weird isn't it,” Warne added. “You would think with their lifestyles and food they wouldn't get ill like the rest of us but the problem is there is 30 of us in this building. If we do get an illness it goes around pretty quick. It is disappointing in that respect to have a couple ill, but hopefully we will have at least 16 or 17 fit for Saturday. Richard Wood trained with us yesterday but won't feature this weekend.”

Warne will be desperate for his side to give their League One promotion bid a shot in the arm, having gone three games without a win.

The Millers are sixth, but limped to a 2-2 draw at Southend last week and will be looking to put on a show for the home fans.

“We've been building it up all week with the lads and we respectfully discuss the opposition and how they play but it is more about how we play and what we want to do and how we can hurt them,” Warne said.

"We're having a real positive drive this week and hopefully the fans will enjoy watching it come Saturday.

"I think they are the third or fourth best team in the league possession-wise. They definitely keep the ball so we'll have to look at the way that we want to play and impose ourselves.”
