Rotherham United: Injury update on Trevor Clarke, Clark Robertson and Matt Crooks

The Irishman, whose life at the Millers since his summer move from Shamrock Rovers has been blighted by fitness issues, hobbled off in the first half of Monday night's FA Cup win at Solihull Moors.

Clarke, who began the game on the left wing, suffered the problem early on and left Warne with no choice but to take him off.

"Trev has got an injury," Warne said. "He was struggling to move. It's a sore ankle. After 10 minutes he wasn't moving right.

"Every time he got the ball he lost it. He just didn't look himself. I don't like taking players off in the first half but I had no choice."

Warne does at least have better news, having found out that Clark Robertson and Matt Crooks do not need surgery on their troublesome groin problems.

Both men have been playing through the pain in recent weeks and saw a specialist, who deemed injections the best course of treatments.

Crooks' will rule him out for a fortnight, so may have to wait until the new year when fixtures ease, while Robertson's is far less invasive.

"With Crooksy, I'm trying to get a period where there isn't three games and it's just Saturday and Saturday," Warne added. "Robbo, he looks in pain big time. When I made the third sub, I just had hope he would hang on. It was a makeshift back four. I was fearing the worst."

Meanwhile, Warne praised the impact of substitute Chiedozie Ogbene for his impact in the 4-3 win at Solihull.

The Millers looked like being on the end of an embarrassing FA Cup upset until the winger got to grips with the tie, setting up three of four goals in 14 minutes as Warne's side capped a remarkable comeback.

"Chieo had a massive effect down the right,” Warne said. “His crosses were unbelievable. I expect my centre-forwards to score from them.

“We missed plenty of chances as well.

The subs changed things. I could have changed a lot of things, couldn't I? I joked with the players afterwards that I could have put me, Richie (assistant boss Barker and Hammy (coach Matt Hamshaw) on and we'd have been better.

"I'd be lying if I said I was confident we could come back - I definitely was not - but I thought getting one goal might just rattle Solihull.”
