The 21-year-old Swede has joined on a two-year deal following his release from Leicester at the end of the season.

He arrives at the AESSEAL New York Stadium to challenge Jamal Blackman and Lewis Price for a first-team spot.

Boss Paul Warne will be hoping that the Leicester effect works its magic again following Daniel Iversen's successful loan spell from the Foxes last season.

Iversen came on a season-long loan and helped the Millers win League One promotion.

Johansson was planning on a return to his homeland after leaving the King Power Stadium, but has now opted to stay in English football.

He said: “I’m delighted, it’s a great club and I’ve heard loads of good things about it, so I’m very happy to be here.

“I’m very excited, both guys (Jamal Blackman and Lewis Price) are awesome, it’s a great training group with a lot of experience, especially with Pricey who has been in the game for a very long time. I’m looking forward to working with them.”

The Sweden Under-21 international did not play for the Foxes' first team but was highly-rated by the hierarchy at the Premier League club.

He will compete with Blackman and Price for the gloves as the Millers kick-off their season with the Carabao Cup trip to Salford on Saturday.

Chelsea goalkeeper Blackman is back in South Yorkshire after a previous loan spell at Sheffield United and is likely to be Warne's first choice.
