The flying winger has been one of the standout performers of the season so far and put in an especially eye-catching display against Millwall last week.

There were scouts in attendance at the AESSEAL New York Stadium, who could not fail to be impressed, but that has not manifested itself into any bids.

“I am not aware of any potential interest in him other than his performances are very good and if you watch him why wouldn't you want him in the team,” Warne said ahead of Saturday's trip to Birmingham.

“We have had no phone calls, no bids, no agent taps, nothing.

“It is a better question directed at Paul Douglas but sincerely I have had no concrete interest in any of my players.

“You are always one call away from a disaster. When we have finished the window we will have accumulated a squad that is as good as we can have.

“However if we lose anyone from that straight away we are weaker.

“I know where we are in the pecking order, if someone came in and offered a bid we couldn't turn down then that's football.

“At the moment I don't feel like our boat is rocked and hopefully we can take the boat down to Birmingham and sail away with three glorious points.”

The Millers were interested in strengthening the other wing by bringing Hakeeb Adelakun back to South Yorkshire.

The Bristol City man spent time on loan at the club last season but has now joined Hull City after Warne could not fully commit to a deal.

Warne told the Star: “I loved Haks and in fairness I spoke to the Hull manager (Grant McCann), he phoned me for a recommendation for him and I said, 'I am sort of still interested but not a 100 per cent because I am trying to get something else through'.

“No offence to Haks but I do need something else before I need a winger.

“I couldn't lie to the manager so I told him if you can get him, get him and he begged me not to go for him.

“I think he will do brilliantly at Hull, I really like Grant and if it is the case he goes there, I wish him all the best and maybe our paths will meet at a different time.”
