REDS KEEPER SET TO LEAVE

GOALKEEPER Nick Colgan has had a transfer request accepted by Barnsley.

Manager Simon Davey will listen to offers for the 34-year-old, who has made 99 league starts for the Oakwell club.

Davey said: "We'd have to get our own house in order before he went anywhere and get another senior keeper in."

Colgan, Barnsley's player of the year in 2005-6, has not played since Heinz Muller arrived in August.

He will be on the bench again on Saturday when Barnsley are at Charlton.

Davey said: "I've no problem with that, he's a good pro."

Colgan was signed by former Barnsley boss Paul Hart three years ago.

He played a crucial part in winning promotion via the play-off final, making crucial saves in the penalty shoot-out.

He has eight caps for the Republic of Ireland and is in the Irish squad for the European Championship qualifying matches against Germany on Saturday October 13 and Cyprus on Wednesday October 17.

The

FA have confirmed they will be investigating the mass brawl which marred Tuesday's Championship encounter between Hull and Charlton.

Referee Anthony Taylor reduced both sides to 10 men shortly before half-time when dismissing Hull skipper Ian Ashbee and Charlton winger Lloyd Sam after an ugly bust-up at the KC Stadium.

Ashbee's heavy tackle on Sam led to the pair grappling with one another and triggered a melee which ultimately involved players, substitutes and coaching staff, including Charlton boss Alan Pardew.

Both clubs look almost certain to be hit with a charge of failing to control their players.

Robbie

Fowler could find himself in hot water with the Football Association after a row with Sheffield United supporters after Tuesday's game at Bramall Lane.

The Cardiff City striker, who scored a controversial penalty during the 3-3 draw with Bryan Robson's side, was allegedly involved in a verbal altercation with at least two home fans as he made his way from the stadium to the team bus.

Eyewitnesses say that Fowler swore which has prompted one fan to write a letter to Soho Square demanding that officials launch an investigation into his conduct.
