Quartet shine for Armthorpe

ARMTHORPE B chalked up a 78-57 Doncaster Doubles League Division One win at Rossington thanks to good performances from Richard Commons and Barry Bentley (21-9) and Jackie Fraser and Dave Gibson (21-6).

Westfield Park lost 82-63 at home to Pilks Rec.

Armthorpe A picked up a double win, beating Askern 79-66 and Denaby 79-78. The club’s B string also beat Denaby 78-70.

Adwick got a good start from Steve Crookes and Brian Coates (21-8), which enabled them to hold off a late challenge from Brodsworth's Keith Haydon and Mick Jones (21-9) to claim a 71-63 Division Two derby win.

Tony O'Brien and Mick McGuire (21-4) showed up well for Parklands in their 78-50 win over Eden Grove-Pegler.

Last pair Sylvia Spryut and Barry Ardron's 21-5 win was too late to save Wickersley from defeat as Joe Dixon and Arthur Cope (21-4) had already done enough to seal a 68-59 Division Three win for Yorkshire Main B.

Hexthorpe Flatts lost 73-70 at Elmfeld Park.
