Price on the way back

DONCASTER Rovers' Jason Price has taken a giant leap along the road to full fitness.

The former Hull City marksman has been out of action since last season's Johnstone Paint Trophy final in Cardiff but successfully completed 30 minutes of yesterday's behind closed doors friendly against Sunderland at Cantley Park.

Price scored Rovers' second goal in the 5-0 rout of the young visitors from Wearside after being released by Lewis Guy's through ball and although medical staff are expected to perform a through assessment later today, he is not believed to have suffered any adverse reaction.

Sunderland manager Roy Keane was present at the match but, from the hosts' perspective, there was little doubt about who was the star attraction.

Price said: "It's good to be back playing again after my injury. It's been frustrating and worrying but now I can see light at the end of the tunnel."

Despite reaching an important milestone in his recuperation, Price is unlikely to be risked against Crewe Alexandra at the weekend but could return to the first team when Rovers continue their defence of the JPT against Oldham next month.
