The Millers are in the thick of a relegation battle and remain in the bottom three despite taking four points from their last two games.

With a condensed fixture schedule in the second half of the season, Warne is desperate for extra quality to help his side get the necessary points to stay in the division.

The boss admits that his team have to be playing at their very best to even have a sniff of winning in this division and knows it will not be possible for them to do so when games are coming thick and fast.

“I just think we need a little bit of help in the window to strengthen because if there is game on a Wednesday night and we had to play again on the Saturday it is nearly impossible to get recovered in time,” he said.

“You can't use cryochambers any more because of Covid.

“It is very difficult for us to play flat out for three games in a week and that is what is coming up, so it is crucial we strengthen a little bit in this window and keep building what we have done in recent weeks.

“We are not playing on Saturday so that is another game we have got to squeeze in.

“I think we have got a level of performance which is most appropriate to us to try and survive.

“We have got loads of games in quick succession and that's what worries me.

“If we had three injuries now for Saturday that would worry me, we definitely need some freshening.

“Competition is good, I never liked it as a player, I hated it and I have been told it is a good thing.

“Every one else is strengthening this window. We are competing with these teams so we need to properly compete.”

The Millers have no game this weekend as their opponents Luton are in FA Cup action, meaning they next play on Wednesday with a rearranged trip to Middlesbrough.
