Paul Warne issues challenge to Rotherham United's top performers

The Millers have regularly moved on their best players over the last few years, with Danny Ward, Semi Ajayi and Will Vaulks all sold for big-money fees.

That shows the players that a move to bigger and better things is possible if they perform well for the Millers.

The likes of Chiedozie Ogebene, Matt Olosunde and Matt Crooks could all be players other clubs take a look at, especially if the Millers succumb to Championship relegation this season.

And Warne has challenged them to show their best between now and the end of the season.

“They want to train, they want to learn, they are keen as and they are great kids so as always we want them to enjoy their lives,” Warne said.

“If they go on to greater things at the end of the season then they go with our blessing.

“But in the meantime if they give everything they can for the club that is all we can ask for.”

The club may be more confident about Championship survival than they might have been after taking four points from their last two games.

A switch to a back three has helped while the return of Ogbene, out since September with a knee injury, is also enthusing Warne.

“The big part of the system which works is Woody's (Richard Wood) organisation, which is great, and we look less vulnerable.

“The system has been working really well, the lads have built confidence in it and the more time we can have on it on the training ground the better, it gives us three days more of reaffirming messages.

“It has been working well.

“We have got Chieo and Sads coming back. Against Stoke would have been an ideal game to through Chieo on because we needed legs on the pitch.

“It will be great to have him back and then we have to pick the system with the best players in mind.”
