PARKGATE slipped to a third successive NCEL defeat losing 1-0 at Scarborough Athletic; a second half penalty proving the difference between the teams.

The first chance fell to Scarborough on 18 minutes but Jamie Bailey made a fine save. Five minutes later Parkgate went close when leading scorer Nathan Forbes-Swindells forced Steve Wilson in the Boro goal into an excellent save.

The hosts almost took the lead two minutes before the break, Bailey’s clearance fell at the feet of James Bennett who from 35-yards rattled the post.

Forbes-Swindells had a great chance to put the Steelmen ahead at the start of the second half but blasted his shot over the crossbar.

However, Scarborough broke the deadlock on 63 minutes through a Ryan Blott penalty with the goal coming just two minutes after Parkgate had hit the post. Bailey had to make a fine diving save to prevent Blott doubling his and the home sides tally.

The result sent Scarborough to the top of the Premier Division after leaders Worksop Parramore were held at home 1-1 by Nostell MW. The visitors struck first through Jimmy Eyles with his effort looping in off a defender. Parramore equalised on 62 minutes, Lee Holmes forcing the ball home from close range.

In Division One, AFC Emley bounced back from two defeats to beat Clipstone Welfare 2-1 at home. Ashley Flynn gave the hosts a 15 minutes lead only for the visitors to level on the half hour mark from a corner. Emley keeper Luke Harriot made a penalty save to keep his side on level terms and with five minute remaining Anthony Haigh fired the winner.
