Hallam extended their unbeaten home record to five games - but had to settle for a point in a goalless draw with Selby Town.
Ryan Hindley’s Countrymen dominated throughout and will wonder how they didn’t come away with maximum points, while Selby’s players celebrated as if they had won the league at the final whistle.
Hallam could quite easily had been four or five up at the interval, as Christian Savage and Jed Phillips both drew good saves from Selby goalkeeper Peter Lawrie.
Jack Hargreaves steered a shot wide of an open goal, and Selby’s first effort on target didn’t arrive until the 78th minute - before Lawrie again excelled to deny Jake Currie.
It was also a frustrating day for ten-man Handsworth Parramore as they too were held to a goalless draw by Hemsworth MW.
The Ambers had goalkeeper Archie Sneath harshly sent-off in the 11th minute for handball outside the area. Danny Holland was the man to make way as Handsworth brought on substitute keeper Joe Green.
And it was Green that helped ensure The Ambers at least came away with a point with a fine penalty save four minutes from time - just moments after Jon Froggatt had seen his effort saved with Kieran Wells’ follow up cleared off the line.
Armthorpe Welfare are off the bottom of the Premier Division after picking up their first win of the season with a 3-1 home victory over Barton Town OB.
That win meant Parkgate dropped to the bottom after Steve Adams’ side went down 2-1 at Harrogate RA despite going ahead in the first minute through James Handley.
Staveley MW were beaten 2-1 at in-form Bridlington Town, and Maltby Main had to settle for a point after they let slip a 2-0 lead against Rainworth MW at Muglet Lane.
Worksop Town were beaten 2-1 at promoted AFC Mansfield, leaving the Tigers with just one win in the last six, and Retford United scored a late equaliser in a 1-1 home draw against Clipstone.
Elsewhere, Penistone Church remain top of Division One despite being held at home to a 1-1 draw by Campion and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic ended a run of five defeats on the spin with a 1-1 draw at Ollerton Town.
Dronfield Town were beaten 4-2 at second-placed Pontefract Collieries, and Rossington Main lost 3-1 at Teversal.
