Tigers settle for a draw in first match back home

Have your say

In their first competitive game back at their old stomping ground of Sandy Lane, now the Windsor Foodservice Stadium, Worksop had to be content with a point from a 1-1 draw against Stafford Rangers.

The Tigers went in front after just six minutes. Jamie Jackson showed good skill on the right to go past two defenders before pulling the ball for Mark Hudson to tap in from six-yards.

The Tigers generally had the better of the first half with Jackson proving a handful for the Rangers defence. But it took an excellent save at full stretch from Worksop keeper Jon Worsnop to keep out Chris Budiss header midway through the half to keep the lead intact.

The visitors came more into the game after the break pegging Worksop back on 58 minutes, Some poor defending allowing Budiss to turn and beat Worsnop from just inside the area. The Tigers almost snatched a victory inside the last minute but Hudson fired over the bar.

Matlock Town are still looking for their first win of the season after a 2-2 home draw against Chasetown.

Handsworth continued their fine start to the season beating Pontefract Collieries 2-0 in the Baris League Cup to make it four wins on the spin. Both goals coming early in the second half from Brain Cusworth and Scott Bates.
