Text farewell

SHEFFIELD FC manager Chris Dolby quit the oldest club in the world by text message, the club revealed today.

He texted his resignation from his holiday base in Scotland, saying his decision was based on cash restraints.

Sheffield FC issued a statement saying: “Despite rumours to the contrary, the playing budget remains the same now as it has been since the start of the season.”

Chairman Richard Tims added that: “During these very tough financial times, it is important to roll up our sleeves and all pull in the same direction.” Ian Whitehorne took charge of the Evo-Stick team last night for the game against Glapwell, whilst “the club consider the options going forwards regarding appointing a new manager”
