STOCKSBRIDGE Park Steels are aiming at top half after narrowly avoiding relegation last campaign.
They finished the last campaign 18th in the table, just above the drop zone, but this year manager Chris Willcock is looking for better. “We’ll be looking to be in the top half of the league enjoying ourselves” he said. “I’ve never gone into a season as a manager looking to battle against relegation and this year won’t be different.
“I arrived at the club with 20 games left and it was a bad situation, but we managed to get 29 points and avoid relegation.”
Midfielder Matt Telling has joined Worksop and striker Jack Muldoon has moved to North Ferriby, but Willcock doesn’t think radical changes are necessary. “I’m looking to strengthen all areas but I don’t particularly think that it needs a complete overhaul, just freshening up for the new season,” he said.
“Our home form was good on a whole last season but we need to improve away.”
