But the north Sheffield club can have little else to cheer - they conceded to four different scorers in front of 1,659 fans at the third-placed protest-movement club. It was Stocksbridge’s 12th away defeat of the season - although their major problem seems to lie in playing at Bracken Moor, where they have won just once in 14 attempts.
It won’t be much comfort for them to know they must face FC United again, at home, on April 16.
Although the visit of Gigg Lane based fan support always puts some money in the coffers.
In the same League, the battle of Derbyshire clubs ended in Buxton’s favour, yesterday, they beat Matlock 1-0, Marc Roberts netting on 19 minutes.
In the First Divsion South, Sheffield are trying to lure more support to their Dronfield ground. They attracted only 213 for a 3-0 win over Kidsgrove Athletic.
Joel Purkiss and Jonathan Muldoon - with two in eight minutes - did the damage.
Sheffield are 12th in the 22-team division.
In the NCEL1 Worsbrough Bridge Athletic beat Shirebrook Town 2-1.
