As we head into the final month of the season, there is still a scramble on for a play-off place, while at the other end of the table there are nine teams involved in the battle to avoid the drop into Division One.

With Retford United’s relegation already confirmed, there are three places in the downward elevator to be filled.

Stocksbridge Park Steels go to Chasetown having greatly improved their chances of retaining Premier Division status with two home wins over the past week.

Steels romped to their biggest win of the season last weekend, thumping relegation rivals Mickleover Sport 7-3, before coming from a goal down to beat Kendal 2-1 on Tuesday with Dan Dillon hitting the winner with a spectacular 45-yard lob.

Frickley Athletic face the proverbial six-pointer at Mickleover Sports. Peter Rinkcavage’s side climbed out of the bottom four on goal difference after beating his former employers Worksop Town 1-0 at the Tech5 Stadium on Tuesday.

Just two points separate Frickley in 18th and Mickleover in 15th.

Retford face a daunting trip to second-placed Colwyn Bay who have won the last seven on the trot.

Worksop Town host FC United of Manchester at Cannon Park having seen their play-off push fall off the tracks with 1-0 defeats against Colwyn Bay and Frickley over the last week.

It leaves the Tigers promotion hopes in the balance with Martin McIntosh’s side five points behind United in fifth.

FC United of Manchester are unbeaten in their last 13 league outings of which they have won nine including a 2-1 victory over Worksop last month. McIntosh will be without the services of leading scorer Ben Tomlinson through suspension.

Buxton go to struggling Ossett Town looking to extend their unbeaten run to nine games. The Bucks beat Ossett 2-0 in the reverse fixture back in October and should complete the league double over the West Yorkshire side that has managed just one win at the Ingfield ground.

Sheffield FC travel to third-place Kidsgrove Athletic in Division One South while title-chasing Alfreton Town take on Droylsden at the Impact Arena in the Blue Square North.
