Hallam continued their superb start to the season with a resounding 5-0 win against a Teversal side had been beaten just once in the previous six league cup outings.

The Countrymen suffered a blow when they lost defender Danny Barnsley to injury after just 20 minutes. Undeterred Hallam edged in front just past the half hour mark through Michael’s Blythen’s precise lob.

It took just two minutes of the second half for Ryan Hindley’s in-form side to double their tally as Jack Hargreaves squeezed the ball home from a tight angle at the near post.

Steve Brammer added the third for the visitors from the penalty spot on 59 minutes after Blythen had been upended in the box.

Substitute Brodie Cooper, another product of the club’s U19’s, scored his first senior goal with a sweetly struck shot into the top corner before Blythen thumped home the fifth after a free-kick had only been half cleared for ninth goal of the season.

The victory sent Hallam back to the top of Division One on goal-difference ahead of Curtis Woodhouse’s Hull United who beat AFC Emley 2-1.

Dronfield Town slipped to a surprise 4-3 defeat at struggling Lincoln Moorlands Railway as the host’s picked up a first win of the season.

Dronfield were rocked by two goals inside the opening seven minutes. Christian Savage pulled one back on 63 minutes but moments later Lincoln had restored the two-goal cushion. It looked all over as the home side made it 4-1 with 15 minutes remaining until two penalties both converted by Herve Szerano inside the last five minutes had Lincoln hanging on.

After taking just one point from the last three games Penistone Church got back to winning ways beating struggling Grimsby Borough 4-1 at home.

Andy Ring put Penistone 1-0 up on eight minutes to gave Ian Richards side an early boost. The home side were rocked by a Grimsby equaliser two minutes into the second half but veteran defender Brett Lovell quickly restored Church’s lead. Lewis Dickinson added a third eleven minutes from time before Ring netted his second and the home Penistone’s fourth three minutes from time.

Worksop Town narrowed the gap to a single point on Premier Division leaders Tadcaster Albion after easing to a 4-0 win at Armthorpe Welfare.

Connor Higginson rounded off a good move to give the Tigers the lead on the half hour mark with a crisp finish into the bottom corner.

Kyle Jordan doubled the lead on the stroke of half time touching home a low cross into the box. Mitch Husbands tucked home the third from close range in the 70th minute after being teed-up by Tom Elliott with Husbands scoring his second and Worksop’s fourth in time added on.

Athersey Recreation are without a win in four following a 3-1 defeat at Cleethorpes Town. Adam White netting Rec’s consolation effort eight minutes from time.

* In the FA Vase First Qualifying Round, Keiran Wells 14th minute header was enough to send Handsworth Parramore into the next round in a close 1-0 victory against AFC Liverpool at Sandy Lane.

Maltby Main went through 3-0 at AFC Blackpool with first half goals from Farbod Yousefi and Brian Cusworth along with a Dean Conway effort two minutes from time.

Rossington Main came from behind to beat higher Division opponents Pontefract Collieries 4-2. Ben Hunter 16th goal canceled out the visitors opener three minutes earlier. Lee Holmes edged Main in front on the stroke of half time with Hunter scoring his second and Rossington’s third early in the second half.

Jason Stokes put the result beyond dout five minutes from time before the visitors pulled one back in time added on.

Reford United are also went through 4-1 at Blaby & Whetstone Athletic But Parkgate went out 6-5 after extra-time at Green Lane against Rochdale Town after squandering a 4-0 lead. It was a similar story at Inkersal Road where Stavelely MW went out 4-3 against Cheadle Town after letting slip a 3-1 advantage.
