Hallam slipped to their first defeat in four games, going down 2-0 against Shirebrook Town at Sandygate Road.

The visitors went ahead after just four minutes through former Hallam player Aaron Moxam who curled in a fine effort from just outside the box for his 39th goal of the season.

The Countrymen gave as good as they got with Julian Lawrence having an outstanding game both in defence and getting forward at every opportunity.

However, it was the visitors that scored a second goal midway through the second half much against the run of play with another of the visitors ex-Hallam contingent Steve Wankiewicz stabbing home a low cross from close range.

Parkgate went down to a narrow 1-0 defeat at promotion hopefuls Worksop Parramore where Sam Smith’s goal on 25 minutes and against his former club proved decisive.

In the story of the night, Shaw Lane Aquaforce went top of the NCEL Division One in some style with 13-0 drubbing of a sorry Grimsby Borough. Shane Kelsey and Danny Frost both hit four goals while Luke Danville chipped in with a hat-trick with a James Burgess and an own-goal completing the rout.

Two first half goals from Reece Thompson gave Retford United a 2-0 victory over Liversedge at Cannon Park. Dronfield Town went down by the same scoreline at Clipstone, while Athersley Recreation won 2-0 at Thackley.

n Sheffield FC’s home clash against Halesowen Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and will now take place on Tuesday, April 15 7.45pm.
