Stocksbridge Park Steels have their first pre-season outing this evening when Sheffield United visit Bracken Moor.

It will be the first chance for Steels fans to see the new signings in action. New boss Chris Hilton has brought in central defender Ryan Laight, winger Chris White, striker Lee Garside and goalkeeper Liam Flynn and are all expected to make their debuts.

Hilton could also use the game to look at a couple of trialists as he continues to reshape the Steels squad ahead of the new Evo-Stik campaign which gets underway on Saturday August 16.

Hallam were beaten 4-0 at Swallownest Miners Welfare in their first warm up game. However, the Countrymen, now under the guidance of the experienced campaigner Steve Toyne, bounced back with a 1-1 draw against a young Chesterfield side at Sandygate on Monday.

The visitors took the lead early in the second half but a Simon Mirfin penalty gave Hallam a deserved draw.

Armthorpe Welfare got their pre-season campaign off to a winning start coming from behind to beat Evo-Stik League Ossett Albion 4-1 at home with goals from Joe Lumsden, Bradley Johnson (pen), Anthony Ryan and Adam Beskerville.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic drew 1-1 at Cleethorpes Town where the Briggers’ Danny Cawley opened the scoring just past the hour only for the host to grab an equaliser a minute from time.

Rossington Main lost 2-1 at home to against Bridlington Town. Chris Adams gave the Seasiders a 12th minute lead and although Lee Holmes levelled two minutes after the break, Chris Hogg hit the winner with seven minutes remaining.

A last minute goal from debutant Leon Osbourne gave Matlock Town a 1-0 win at Retford United.
