More late despair as Hallam lose in injury time

Have your say

Not for the first time in recent weeks Hallam were hit by a late goal at Sandygate Road as Hall Road Rangers came from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory.

Liam Morris gave Hallam a 13th minute lead with a typical poacher’s goal turning in Joe Highfield’s low cross from two-yards.

But Rangers were back on level terms on 57 minutes. From a pullback Ben Kinsley hit a low shot past the unsighted Adam Seymour from 16 yards.

And the home side were hit by a sucker punch deep into stoppage time when Kinglsey latched onto a ball over the top to lift a shot over Seymour as Hallam’s winless run stretched to 10 games.

Parkgate stretched their unbeaten run to four after coming away with an excellent point from a goalless draw at second-placed Barton Town OB, who were unbeaten in the last 22 league games.

And it might well have been all three points had Scott Whittington had his 18th minute goal ruled out by a close offside decision.

Staveley MW and Armthorpe Welfare shared the spoils from a 1-1 draw at Inkersall Road. Kieran Benson headed the visitors into a 34th minute lead but Staveley’s response was immediate as Josh Scully thumped home his ninth of the season a minute later.

Worksop Parramore slipped to a third game without a win beaten 1-0 at third-placed Basford United where Greg Simmons hit the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time.

Maltby Main saw their three match winning run ended with a 2-0 home defeat against Brighouse Town, while Athersley Recreation came from behind to beat Winterton Rangers 2-1 at home with second half goals from Daniel Joynes and Matt Thornton.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic came from a goal down to beat Appleby Frodingham 6-1, while Dinnington Town made it four wins from five with a 3-2 victory at Grimsby Borough.

Rossington Main beat Hemsworth MW 2-0 at home.
