Handsworth go clear at top

With leaders Worksop Parramore not in action, Handsworth took full advantage to move a point clear at the top of Division One after coming from behind to win 3-1 at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

The Briggers took a 13th minute lead through Liam McFadyen. However, two goals either side of the hour mark swung the game Handsworth’s way. Scorers were Scott Bates, Tom Roebuck and Dave Cockerill.

Hallam were held at home 2-2 by Shirebrook Town. James Cook gave the Blues a 22nd minute lead but by two minutes into the second half they trailed 2-1 before Adam Todd equalised.

Rossington Main completing a league double over Teversal with a 6-2 victory at Oxford Street. Scorers were Shaun Pendleton, Zeph Thomas, Lee Holmes 2, and Lewis Hilton

Retford United went top of ther Premier Division with 3-2 home win over Winterton Rangers. Steve Carty 2, and Warren Hatfield scored.

Two goals from Ryan Damms - who made it 12 for the season - saw Staveley Miners Welfare stretch their unbeaten league record to nine games and move level on points with second-placed Bridlington after a 2-1 win at Pickering Town.

Maltby Main slumped to a fifth consecutive league defeat going down 3-1 at Muglet Lane by Nostell MW, trailing 3-0 after 37 minutes. Lee Mellon pulled one back from the penalty spot with six minutes remaining f.

In the FA Vase First Round there were victories for Parkgate, Armthorpe Welfare and Askern Villa but it was the end of the road for Dinnington Town and AFC Emley.

Parkgate accounted for Scarborough Athletic 2-0 at Green Lane with two second half goals after the visitors had been reduced to nine-men.

Scarborough brought on former Hull City striker Dean Windass at the start of the second half for his debut.

The Steelmen scored through Keir Hannity with a shot that went in off a post and Ashley Worsfold in the last minute.

Armthorpe beat Yorkshire Amateur 3-0 at home. Sam Jones slammed home the opener on 21 minutes, the others coming in the last four minutes from Adam Lee and Joe Lumsden.

Goals from Ashley Towler and a Tom McLaughlin brace saw Askern Villa ease to a 3-0 victory over Premier Division strugglers Selby Town.

Dinnington were beaten 2-0 at home by Bridlington Town with James Bennett and Josh Greening scoring the goals inside the last 18 minutes. AFC Emley went out 2-0 at Glasshoughton. Carl Fothergill opening the scoring on eight minutes with Darrel Young adding the second three minutes from time.
